The Exciting Life of Valencia
Valencia is one of the more popular provinces in the Spanish Autonomous Community which is full of life whether it is day or night throughout the year. It is renowned for its vibrant lifestyle in the form of fiestas and festivals that can be extravagant with spectacular fireworks, music, songs, dancing, food and decorations.
Fiestas of Valencia
There are many types of fiestas that are celebrated in Valencia throughout the year. Each fiesta is upheld with the highest reverence as most of them have religious connotations. Each fiesta is also celebrated in the grandest style as the locals love a vibrant celebration.
One of the more impressively celebrated fiestas is the San Jose fiesta which represents the beginning of spring. You will be caught up with this celebration even way before it is on as there will be many active and diligent works around the town on impressive and elaborate cardboard-constructions that are burned on the final day of this festival. Almost every fiesta in Valencia is celebrated over a few days; this becomes the main reason for the constant fiesta moods and celebrations throughout the year.
The San Jose celebration is in March that is celebrated over four days.
Then you will find the Julio fiesta in July where the whole of Valencia is decorated ornately with flowers. It is filled with fireworks and parties at night and bullfights in the day.
The October fiesta is the Valencian Community fiesta which commemorates the town’s re-conquest from the Moors.
There is also the Mocaora fiesta which is a gourmet festival. This festival celebration is well loved by gastronomical lovers who get to taste the wide range of special traditional fares made of Piuletes, marzipan and tronadors.
Vibrant Night Life
Besides the festive fiestas that ring throughout the land in Valencia, another activity rings just as loudly; it is the nightlife that can be heard and experienced in Valencia.
It is specially known as the “La Movida” or the “movemen” where weekend happenings come on from Friday evening till Sunday morning. The vibrancy goes on throughout the whole weekend with lots of merry-making with no rests or sleep pockets.
You must be in excellent good health and shape to take on the “La Movida” as a challenge to your sanity and spirit.
There are plenty of places in Valencia which offer the La Movida; these are usually attended by young people or students who can have a swinging good time throughout the weekend.
Alternatively, you can enjoy the discotheque, pubs or bars for more local flavor nightlife.
